This Christmas past (2025), Charlie’s Bar raised £1,100 for Cancer Focus NI through a festive fundraising campaign centred around a special Christmas Eve live music event.
We encouraged voluntary donations on the day, supported by collections in the bar over the festive period. A key part of the event was the generosity of local musician Chephren Parker, who very kindly travelled over to perform and took no payment for the gig — instead asking that donations be given directly to Cancer Focus NI.
Our fundraising was also inspired by our Charlie’s Christmas advert, which focused on carers and the everyday sacrifices they make for their loved ones. Supporting Cancer Focus NI felt like a natural extension of that message, helping us turn storytelling into meaningful action in our local community.
The response from the local community was incredibly positive. Customers were genuinely moved by the cause and the message behind the fundraising, especially with our Christmas advert focusing on carers and unseen support networks.
December is already an expensive month for many people, but the generosity shown throughout the event and over the festive period was a real reflection of the kindness and community spirit in Fermanagh.
We also received lovely feedback from Cancer Focus NI following the donation, which meant a lot to our staff and customers, as it reinforced that the money raised was making a real difference locally.
The fundraiser raised £1,100 for Cancer Focus NI, supporting vital services in our local area.
Cancer Focus NI shared with us that as a local charity they are 90% dependent on donations, and that they must raise over £350,000 each year in the Fermanagh area to continue delivering cancer support and health improvement locally.
They also confirmed that our donation of £1,100 will pay for 19 hours of family support, helping local individuals and families affected by cancer.
The impact feels even more direct because Cancer Focus NI opened their Nurse-led Cancer Support Centre at 18 High Street, Enniskillen in May 2025, and they have already welcomed over 1,800 visits – offering everything from drop-in support and counselling, to family support, bra fitting and support groups.
Knowing the funds raised stay local and help people in our town makes the fundraiser especially meaningful for Charlie’s Bar and our community.
