Taking place this July at Charlie’s Bar, the workshop will provide a relaxed and welcoming environment where participants can learn the basics of hair styling, including ponytails, plaits and simple everyday looks.
The session will be led by award-winning barber Ciarán “Kiwi” O’Sullivan of KiwiCutz alongside local hairdresser Nicola Fallon. Using mannequin heads for demonstrations and practice, they will guide attendees through easy-to-master techniques that can be used at home.
While participants develop their new skills, they will also have the opportunity to enjoy a pint and spend time with others in a friendly pub setting.
As a pub that regularly looks for new ways to support and engage its community, Charlie’s Bar has developed a reputation for creating events that bring people together across different generations. Pints & Ponytails is another example of the venue using its space creatively to encourage connection, conversation and shared experiences.
Initiatives like this show how pubs can support community wellbeing in unexpected ways. By creating opportunities for people to learn new skills, build confidence and strengthen family relationships, local pubs can play an important role beyond food and drink alone.
Pints & Ponytails highlights the evolving role of the modern pub as a place where communities can gather, learn and support one another. Through simple but meaningful initiatives, Charlie’s Bar continues to demonstrate how hospitality venues can create lasting social value while remaining at the heart of local life.
