Shining a light on the impact of pubs on community sport.

Pubs Power Sport Report 2025

Revealing the true impact of pubs on community movement, health and wellbeing

Across the UK, pubs are quietly powering something our nation needs more than ever: movement, connection and community wellbeing.

They sponsor teams, host walking groups, open early for charity runs, provide safe social spaces and keep the heartbeat of grassroots sport alive.

This new Pubs Power Sport Report from PubAid, supported by Guinness and Sky Business, reveals the national scale of that impact. Despite there being fewer pubs than in 2019, their support for community sport remains worth £40 million every year, powering 6.7 million activity sessions and activating 1.7 million people.

At a time when inactivity, loneliness and the loss of community spaces are rising, pubs are delivering exactly what national policy is calling for: everyday movement, preventative health, social connection and pride in place.

Why this matters

The findings align directly with Government priorities across Health and Prevention, Levelling Up, Loneliness and the Get Active plan.

Pubs are not just part of sport’s past, they are an essential part of its future.

Explore the data. Hear the stories. See the impact.

This is the most comprehensive review yet of what pubs contribute to grassroots sport and community wellbeing.
