Grassroots Sports Champions

Are you a Grassroots Sports Champion?

Does your pub, club or bar sponsor a local football team, provide free food and drink for the cricket side, or host a darts or pool team? Then why not become part of our new Grassroots Sports Champion programme and earn the recognition you deserve for supporting the local sports that are so important for our physical and mental well-being.

Pubs are providing a lifeline estimated at £40 million a year to for grassroots sport. That support isn’t just for the big sports like football, cricket, pool and darts, but less commonly played pursuits ranging from netball, bowls and skittles to the little-known Bat & Trap (a distant cousin of cricket).

Win free marketing support for your pub!

If you think your pub is a Grassroots Sports Champion, tell us about it and we’ll send you a free marketing pack to help you shout about it, containing staff t-shirts and an accreditation window sticker. So you can let the community know that you’re doing your bit to keep grassroots sport alive.

How to apply

Becoming a Grassroots Sports Champion is completely free, and easy. Just complete this simple form with some details about your pub and the way you support grassroots sports.

This isn’t a competition - we’re not choosing one pub over another. Every pub that’s involved in local sport will be considered for recognition and we want as many as possible to become Grassroots Sports Champions.
